I have observed that we all are doing something wrong with Pingbacks. Before we discuss about “Pingback Right Procedure”. First of all, let’s talk about:

What is Pingback?

It is an automatic notification sent when a link is created from one person’s blog post to another.

How to Pingback?

  • Write a blog post on your site
  • Add link of my website
  • Publish the post
  • I will get an automated notification.

What is the right procedure?

Have you noticed that you linked lots of blogs in your post but you observed that nobody knows if you have mentioned their name. Also you have to visit each blog to tell them about you have mentioned them in your post? Why this is happening when there’s an automated notification tool is here and you’re using it as well. But, did you know you were not following the right method!

Always link to any post or page let say you are linking to this post “https://thelearnify.wordpress.com/2016/07/13/we-are-human-not-machine/” the other person will receive the notification

Don’t link to blog URL because pingbacks aren’t allowed and other person will not get any notification.

  • You can control if you want to display a Pinkback.
  • You can edit a Pingback Text.
  • Don’t add or accept spam Trackbacks

Please try out this procedure. I am sure this tutorial would be helpful for you. Do tell me in the comments bellow. We all knew about Pingback but we all were doing it incorrectly! 😀

HI Ari, I don’t get the difference you are sharing here:

Always link to any post or page let say you are linking to this post “https://thelearnify.wordpress.com/2016/07/13/we-are-human-not-machine/” the other person will receive the notification

Don’t link to blog URL because pingbacks aren’t allowed and other person will not get any notification.

… What is the difference – to me it is the same thing. You have to copy paste the url of the other blog – ?
Could you clarify further.

I know when I do related post on my own post, and use the link tool on the tool bar, – i get notifications on all pingback I do for my own blog.

Perhaps you can clarify the above – cause I am being a bit silly here and not understanding what you said here.

Thanks Bella

I have mentioned that we all know about pingback… but we all link to blog URL.. which doesn’t show notification and a lot of new bloggers including me, we visit other sites and tell them that we have mentioned them. I hope my answer is satisfactory for you

    Aki · July 13, 2016 at 11:49 am

So instead of link to blog URL, link to post or page..

      thoughtsnlifeblog · July 14, 2016 at 1:13 am

but in our own blogs – with our own pages we can link and use the link button on the tool bar. But to someone’s else’s blog I don’t get how we can do that.

    Aki · July 13, 2016 at 12:11 pm

Let suppose I have linked to your blog http://WWW.TnLblog.wordpress.com you won’t get notification.

Thanks – always good to give someone props with a pingback. It lets them know that you have been inspired or referenced their work.

Hey! I already use pingbacks here and there – but this was definitely helpful to reinforce I was doing it correctly – I do have a question though, what is a Trackback? I’ve seen this about but not sure what it is? Thanks for Learnifying me! 😀

    Aki · July 14, 2016 at 5:16 am

Trackback and webmentions are same as pingbacks I.e. automated notification. However linkback is manual form of linking to other blogs I.e. no notification is sent to other blogger.

      Awkward Babble · July 14, 2016 at 5:21 am

Ooooh, ok I see. Thanks for explaining that! 😊

        Aki · July 14, 2016 at 5:26 am

You’re welcome. I’m glad to know that you’re learnified 🙂 *I feel accomplished* thank you

I’m still trying to get the hang of WordPress. This should go quite far. Much obliged.

I have been surfing online greater than 3 hours lately, but I by no means
found any interesting article like yours. It is lovely value sufficient for
me. Personally, if all web owners and bloggers made excellent content
material as you did, the internet will likely be much more helpful than ever before. http://www.yahoo.net
